Rui Bordalo is a conservator-restorer specialised in easel paintings.
He has a particular interest in the study of art materials and in the application of new technologies to conservation. This interest led him to pursue a PhD at the Courtauld Institute of Art in the application of laser technology in the cleaning of paintings.

He currently teaches several disciplines of the conservation course at Portucalense University. He is a board member of the Portuguese Association of Conservator-Restorers (ARP) and a Committee member of the European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers' Organisations (E.C.C.O.) since 2005. He is also one of the founders of e-conservation magazine, where he is currently the editor-in-chief.
