Plart – whose name derives from the combination of the terms “plastic” and “art” – is a new museum devoted to plastic materials.

Plart will open in Naples on January 25 by initiative of the Italian art collector Maria Pia Incutti.

The main objective of Plart is the scientific research and technological innovation of plastics. Therefore, and apart the museum, this initiative includes the creation of a conservation- restoration laboratory for plastic materials.

On an area of 1000 m2 Plart will house more than 2000 plastic works of art.

From their website:

Plart came into being as a polyfunctional space dedicated to scientific research and technological innovation for the recovery, restoration  and  conservation of works of art and

design in plastic. […] From the collection of objects and works of art in plastic, there arose the need - also felt by museums, private collectors, and operators in the art world - to go into more detailed research on non-destructive methods for the conservation of artefacts made from polymeric material, which deteriorates with time.
