The Digital Asset Management Database (DAMD) was developed within the Museums and the Online Archive of California (MOAC) project. "Moac: Community Toolbox" is a software tool designed for the creation and sharing of standards-based content by cultural organizations.
According to MOAC project description, "this tool has two primary functions that can be used together or separately: it provides basic digital asset management for simple to complex media objects and it easily transforms collections information into an extensible variety of standards-based XML formats, such as METS and OAI, to allow even small organizations without technical staff to share their collections broadly and participate in building a national network of culture." The database works in FileMaker Pro (8.5 or above, Mac or Windows) due to the wide use of this platform in museums and in the art communities. DAMD was funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and is available for free to cultural organizations. The DAMD tool and a PDF manual and the can be downloaded from: http://bampfa.berkeley.edu/moac/ |
