LOCATION: Bureau of Land Management, Anasazi Heritage Center, Dolores, Colorado.
DATES: 8-12 consecutive weeks. Specific reporting and departure dates are negotiable.
REIMBURSEMENT:
$100 per week stipend. Housing at a communal, 3 bedroom house located
on 6 acres adjacent to the Anasazi Heritage Center. No travel
reimbursement is available.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants with a
prior background in archaeology, anthropology, heritage education,
graphic art, history, paleontology, or museum studies will be given
preference. Interest and experience in heritage education, the ability
to write and edit, or interest in writing and editing for a variety of
audiences ,and experience with publications, graphics, or web software
are helpful. Bachelor’s degrees are preferred.
UNIVERSITY
CREDIT: College or university credit may be arranged depending upon
policy of university involved. BLM professional staff will supervise
credit procedures established by the intern and school.
JOB
DESCRIPTION: This position involves assisting BLM’s national Heritage
Education Team with educational outreach and may involve a variety of
tasks. The intern may assist with creative writing and editing,
developing web page components, or designing and obtaining graphic art
for various ongoing outreach projects including History Mysteries and
Project Archaeology for youthful audiences, and Adventures in the Past
for adult audiences.
