Thanks..

We've been trying to break it down, and write separate sections on important points of information... such as:

"Art Conservation Training"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_conservation_training

"Conservation Associations and Professional Organizations"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_Associations_and_Professional_Organizations

And we are trying to build the history section up (very small beginnings so far) by writing various biographies and then fitting them into the 'bigger picture'

For example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Rathgen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Plenderleith
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry_Thomson

(please note I didn't write a lot of this... don't have that much time!) But just plugging mine and others work...

Another interesting project I have been working on is to document works of art in the public...

Check out this IMA blog, written by one of the people I am working on the wikipedia project with, for a latest update in this project:

Hi and welcome to the forum. Thank you for your feedback on the magazine.
I have seen your blog, very nice work! The content is excellent, there are many things that I enjoyed reading.
I never heard before about Recent Setbacks in Conservation, thanks for sharing!  Upup
Your CV is impressive, I really wonder when do you find time to get involved in so many things. Keep up the good work!

Best wishes,

Teodora

Hello Daniel and welcome!

This is a very good initiative! I did notice since long time ago that conservation was not very well represented in Wikipedia and I'm glad to know that that has been changing. I hope many people will start participating and that this will increase awareness of our field among the general public.

 Help

Hello everyone... Just wanted to introduce a project that I and several other conservators have been working on, that is the improvement of the English language wikipedia sites relating to conservation.

The main page is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation-restoration

and there are now many pages about related topics, and biographies of conservators that have been started.

Anyone is welcome to get involved and help shape this page into what could potentially be a very useful resource for professionals and public alike. We would like to see it become a globally useful tool, however, predominantly the information must be english language based as there are other wikipedias for other languages.

If you want to get involved please check out the rules of wikipedia, if you are new to it, a lot of background info can be found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia

And in regards to working on the page, we are trying to discuss edits prior to making them using the talk pages (with some success -although not all who edit use the talk pages). I would encourage everyone to use the talk pages either before editing, or simply to make suggestions if you do not want to edit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Conservation-restoration

Respond to this thread or message me, or see you on the talk pages of wikipedia... and help would be appreciated.

Dear friends and colleagues,
The Petrified Forest of Lesvos is a nominee for The New 7 Wonders of Nature and needs our votes to make it to the finalists. Please support its nomination by voting on-line. All that is needed is a few seconds of your time and an e-mail account.

The Petrified Forest of Lesvos is located on Lesvos Island in Greece. It is a petrified forest ecosystem made up of hundreds of lying and standing fossilized tree trunks which were covered by volcanic material and petrified in place 20 million years ago. Layers of volcanic ash have revealed pieces of trunks, branches, roots, seeds and leaves as well as fossilized animal bones. Important concentrations of fossilized remains can also be found in the marine and seashore zones of western Lesvos. The region of the Petrified Forest is further characterized by impressive volcanic geotopes, witnesses of the intense volcanic activity in the past. For more information and pictures of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, visit the Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos website at www.lesvosmuseum.gr.

To vote for the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, please follow the following steps:
Step 1: Go  to http://www.new7wonders.com/nature/en/vote_on_nominees/
Step 2: Fill in your e-mail address
Step 3: Vote. Please select continent: Europe. Please select candidate: Petrified Forest of Lesvos ( GREECE )
Step 4: A message will arrive in your e-mail box. Follow the instructions to confirm your vote.

Thank you for reading this message. Thanks

Posting this in behalf of Melissa McCoy, law student at Northern Kentucky University, currently looking into topics for a research paper:

I was wondering if you could direct me to any information about "citizen archeology" (it is a controversial practice that has been suggested in order to protect cultural property from looting as there are more sites to preserve than professional archeologists have time to uncover).  If you are familiar with anything about this practice I would greatly appreciate any information I can get.

Thank you in advance!
